britney spears, britney spears father, britney spears conservatorship battle

Singer Britney Spears has been fighting the legal battle of conservatorship with her father Jamie Spears for almost 13 years. For the uninitiated, Britney sought freedom from her father’s guardianship as he used to control her life and finances. In 2021, Britney won the case and the court suspended Jamie as his conservator. This means he will not take any decision over her life and her finances. Now, the latest update in the case suggests, Britney has finally settled the legal dispute by ending the chapter for good.

Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with the court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter. Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father and won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.” Britney’s attorney, Mathew S Rosengart, said in a statement.

Jamie’s attorney, Alex Weingarten, said that the two parties ‘reached a settlement agreement resolving all outstanding disputes’. He told People, “I cannot comment on any specifics as the settlement is confidential. Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much and everything he has ever done has been to protect and support her… Unfortunately, some irresponsible people in Britney’s life chose to drag this on for as long as it has.

However, according to a TMZ report, Britney is furious as she has been ordered to pay all his legal fees. Jamie was seeking to cover his bills of more than $2 million to pay to multiple law firms that he had hired as his daughter’s conservator. He also needs to his current lawyer’s fees.
